Carnic High Route – Carnic Alps Hiking Trail
Along the Carnic Alps
The Carnic High Route or Peace Trail (KWH 403) leads along the entire length of the Carnic Alps, running alongside the border between Austria and Italy. The route from Sillian to Arnodstein is 155 km long. The most frequently travelled stage is the section from Sillian to the Plöcken Pass.
Carnic High Route – Carnic Alps Hiking Trail
The alpine long-distance hiking trail leads through a scenic and diverse landscape. The diversity of the mountain shapes results from the complex geological structure of the Carnic Alps. That is why a Geo Trail (geological educational trail) has been created on the route between Sillian and Nassfeld. The geology of the mountain range is explained by using information boards. The alpine flora and fauna is just as diverse as the nature of the types of rock here.
